Georgia strives to be an EV leader amid challenges

A $5 billion Rivian factory is coming to the Atlanta area and another $2.6 billion EV battery plant is nearing completion northeast of that city, but Georgia still has a long way to go when it comes to bringing a surge of electric vehicles to state roads, notes the Chattanooga Times Free Press.

The price to buy an EV remains a challenge and the state needs more charging stations to support EV adoption, the newspaper’s report says. The state’s EV sales fell sharply after Georgia lawmakers in 2015 eliminated the state’s $5,000 tax credit to buy an EV.
