Coalition for EV Choice and Competition: U.S. needs local dealers to drive EV revolution forward

Although electric vehicle adoption is still gaining steam in the U.S., the need for EVs has already reached “fever pitch” in Europe, says the Coalition for EV Choice and Competition.

High gas prices (nearly double the cost in the U.S.), European Union carbon taxes and emission standards as well as fewer concerns about charging networks and EV ranges is boosting European electric vehicle adoption.

That leaves EV enthusiasts in the U.S. wondering what this country can do to catch up with Europe. The answer lies with making electrification as seamless as possible while easing consumer concerns about this shift in transportation, and auto dealers are already playing a key role in doing that, the Coalition says.

Dealers are making major investments to build charging station networks while educating motorists about switching to electric, and dealers are also training technicians to service EVs so consumers are confident about buying an electric vehicle, the Coalition notes.
